Testing the Volcano 2 Cook Stove
When our Volcano 2 cook stove arrived the first thing we noticed was how small it was. We thought, “wow” it is a little smaller then we thought it would be but, when we took it out of the box and popped it up it was huge. The rough, rugged and stable design was more then we expected it would be. So, all put together, we liked it, very nicely done. Now for the real test, how well does it cook?
For our first test we thought we would cook the hardest food to grill, so we used charcoal for the fuel source to cook chicken. The Volcano 2 stove did not let us down. It not only made the chicken moist and tender, but cooked it in less than half the time of any cook stove or BBQ grill we have ever had. A friend came over while we were testing the stove and said that they really miss cooking over an open fire and commented that this was even better because you can control the heat by the vents. Throughout our cooking test we also tested to make sure to touch the outer walls to see if it would burn us. It was hot but did not burn our hands nor the wooden picnic table it was on. The double wall construction was safe.
Ok, how about cleaning it? Well, the next day we tipped it over and removed the ash. With all of the grease from the chicken we thought it was going to be hard to clean but, this was not the case. It wiped out very easily and we were very impressed.
The next night we thought “ Lets grill pork chops.” We will tell you again, it was very easy and the pork chops came out great.
From boiling water, barbecuing, pan frying, and just good old grilling was a synch. The vent control was a blessing for controlling the temperature. The stove arrived within 2 days of ordering it! The setup and easy take down was very simple, this is not like any ordinary Grill or BBQ.
Pioneer Living gives a five star rating for this product and will personally recommend the Volcano 2 to everyone.
